Happy Holidays?

October is one busy month in this household.  It is like the holidays except the only gifts around here are usually for me.  Now my son gets them too.  It starts off with my dad's birthday on the 6th, then my son's on the 12th, more relatives mid-month, and mine on the 26th.  Oh and that little holiday at month end called Halloween I always forget about.  All the excitement and planning makes life hectic and this year was the worst.  I decided to just do a small backyard barbeque for my son's 3rd birthday.  I was going to invite a few family members, just my nieces, my son's grandparents and that was going to be it.  Well I got in over my head.  29 people were stuffed in my little ranch house on a windy cold day and I swear we ARE NOT doing that again.  We invited cousins and aunts and uncles and neighbors.  It was ridiculous.  I didn't see much of my guests or my husband because I was chasing my son and the other kids who wanted to be outside playing while the adults kept warm inside in multiple locations all over my house.  It all turned out okay but it made me slightly crazy and I don't plan on it again for a long while.  Less than two weeks later I would get to relax and go out to dinner at my favorite (read: expensive, only on a birthday, treat) restaurant.  My son's daycare has a date night once a month.  For $20 we can drop him off for 4 hours where he is familiar and where at least one or two of his friends usually also show up.  We are all set right?  Well I don't know if you heard about this little thing that happened last weekend here in PA, it was a Nor'easter.  Pretty much wreaked any weekend plans that I had.  So all in all I will be glad to bid adieu to October for the first time in a long time and glide right into November.  If only for a rest before the other holiday season begins.  HO HO HO.

  1. I'm so sorry. October is my favorite month but I can sure see why it wouldn't be yours. I so hope you and hubby can reschedule your date.

  2. I will live. Just needed to let it all out. I do really love October despite all the craziness. I have a better idea for next year's birthday party. I learned my lesson this year for sure! Date night will be the next time the daycare holds it. I will have to see when that is. Otherwise, back to our regularly scheduled hectic life. Yay!

  3. I remember those days, running yourself ragged, stressing like crazy, trying to make everyone happy. I LOVE your daycare's offering of date night, that is an amazing feature!! When your child is small, getting away for even a few hours is a sanity saver :)
