Unexpected Find
When I was looking through the pictures of old birthday celebrations trying to find a picture of the picture, I came across a few old pictures my grandmother had given me. She had gone through a bunch of old pictures her sister had when she died. We were sitting around sorting through them and she really wasn't interesting in keeping so many pictures so anytime she saw some that she thought I might want she wanted me to have them. The picture above is of my father in her living room in 1960. The reason that I scanned this picture is for two reasons. First, I was so amazed at the difference between how the house was then and how it was when I grew up. Throw rugs were used and I can see the dining room table was more in the middle of the dining room. Small things that only were interesting to me or my family. The second thing I immediately noticed was the resemblance of my father to my son. I can see when I look at the picture my son's expression. The blond hair was funny too. It was just really fun to see my dad at 7-8 years old and see how much I can see my son in him. Genetics are an amazing thing. I didn't appreciate this picture as much when my grandmother gave it to me since I hadn't had my son yet. Now I am so glad she took the time to go through the pictures with me and insist I take them. I have a few more of Niagara Falls in 1947. Moments in time I am now glad I have. I really need to do a better job of labeling old print pictures. You never know who might be interested in them in the future.
